Altenkamp Manor
Hidden behind tall lime trees lies a special gem of Baroque architecture and landscape design in Papenburg-Aschendorf: Gut Altenkamp and its garden. The manor house was built in the 18th century as a residence for the Emsland Drost in the Dutch-North German Baroque style with an imposing pleasure garden. The yew hedges, the trellis lime trees and the moat surrounding the garden have been preserved as essential elements of the old baroque garden and are waiting to be discovered. Today, the historic baroque ensemble serves as an exhibition centre for art exhibitions.
Information on current exhibitions and other events can be found on the website www.gut-altenkamp.de or on Facebook.
